I am gonna get me some of that!

• If you max out your credit, then get more credit
• If you run out of money, print more
• Spending money solves all problems (not to worry, see above)
• Paying taxes is optional if you head the IRS
• Don’t say anything without a teleprompter
• Disrespecting disabled people is okay as long as you promptly apologize
• Businesses that take Obama money are subject to retroactive governmental regulation
• The President has the authority to fire the CEO of businesses that take Obama money
• If things get tough, go on Jay Leno and 60 Minutes
• Have a press conference at least 5 days a week
• Campaigning never ends
• Historic practices in the White House are irrelevant
• Meaningful gifts to foreign dignitaries are overrated

I predict that Obama will be a one term President, assuming he makes it to the end of the first term without being ousted.

Today ALL Republican members of the House voted against the so called 819 Billion over 1 Trillion Dollar Stimulus Government Pork on Steroids Spending Plan.  I am so proud.  Its about time they showed some collective sense.  If When the plan fails, there will be no fingers pointed at the GOP.  I hope the Senate GOP finds their back bone as well.  If they do, I will get a little of my hope back.

I have few high expectations for Obama’s Presidency.  One was that he would give a great inaugural speech.  I was very disappointed.  I thought his speech was mediocre  and vastly repetitive of his past speeches at best.

“On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord. On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics,”

This is a highly quoted section of his speech.   It is ridiculous to say that his election means people chose “hope over fear” or that his election will bring “unity over conflict and discord” or that his proclamation is doable.   He is in la la land and he had 2 million people there with him today.

I couldn’t help but think of Sgt. Schultz today when I heard Obama’s denial of any personal knowledge related to the indictment of Illinois Governor Blagojevich (D) on corruption charges.

Many people in blogs and otherwise have reflected that Obama has achieved Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream.  I disagree.  Obama has made progress toward the dream, but there is still a ways to go.  In his famous speech MLK said:

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

Looking at the statistics of who voted for the respective candidates last Tuesday, it is clear that the black population did vote for Obama based upon the color of his skin.  There are also a number of people from other races who voted for him on the basis of the color of his skin.  I know because they told me that is why they wanted him to win.  They were so excited to cast their vote for him so they could be part of history.  I do not think that MLK had reverse discrimination in mind when he made his speech.

As noted above, this first win by a black person is an important part of the process toward achieving MLK’s dream.  Once we have had a black (or a half black) President, people can go back to voting on the issues.  When that happens, the color of the candidate’s skin will truly be less important than the content of their character.

This teacher needs to find a new line of work:

My son’s teacher did this to him earlier in the year, but I was not fortunate enough to have a video tape of the classroom discussion.  I only had the recollection of my 7 year old as he explained with teary eyes what his teacher had told him about John McCain.

Republicans are graceful in defeat and offer assistance to the winners (2008). 

Democrats take the Ws out of the keyboards and otherwise vandalize the White House offices (2000).
